Interior designers work with patterns, color, lighting and texture to develop and style houses, offices, hotels and other buildings. The main focus of interior design professionals is decorating spaces to appease occupants, however, recently more interior designers have been more focused on architecture and building design.
An associate or bachelor's degree is generally needed for entry-level interior design positions. Professional interior design programs generally last between two and four years. A number of states have begun to license interior designers.
